I may try spooling up ERD-Commander to see if that will let me edit group policies in an XP environment - however I am more than a little fearful of making any changes to a Vista registry using an XP compatible OS.

"FilterAdministratorToken"=dword:00000000ĭidn't see anything that would let me configure administrator privileges at the command window. "ValidateAdminCodeSignatures"=dword:00000000

"EnableInstallerDetection"=dword:00000001 Why should these call for administrator permissions on execution (With PowerShell or invoking runas from an initial cmd prompt I can read all the items, but this is far from being convenient for quick troubleshooting.) Right click any application and select 'Run as Administrator' - 'This program is blocked by Group Policy. "ConsentPromptBehaviorUser"=dword:00000001 "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin"=dword:00000002 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Systemīut couldn't make much out of the entries there. I opened up the registry editor and went to I am currently signed in as the only user with administrator privileges. I even ran the management console (MMC) and tried to add the Policy Editor snap-in, but ran afoul of a little nastygram informing me that because I only had a baby version of vista, the only policy editing I could do was via the control panel (basically nothing). Unfortunately, MicroS - t elected to disable the Group Policy Editor for Vista Home Premium.
